The Thyroid gland, small and butterfly – shaped, is embedded within the lower part of the neck. Despite its shape and size, this gland plays vital roles within the body. Hence, it is imperative that we take care of our thyroid health by ensuring a healthy lifestyle.
According to Dr George Springer, at least 27 million American individuals suffer from thyroid disease. What is even more alarming is that more than half of the 27 million individuals are undiagnosed and/or misdiagnosed. In other words, a high number of Americans might be suffering from thyroid disease, but are unaware.
Symptoms such as fatigue, hair loss, constipation, depression and mental fog often signify thyroid disease. The earlier an individual can identify his status when it comes to thyroid health, the sooner he can get his life back. However, we should also take preventive measures to maintain optimal thyroid function.
