Meditation: simple 5 minute technique to Reduce stress- Dr. Jason Jones Elizabeth City NC, Chiropractor

Meditation is an effective technique used by a lot of people to manage stress. One interesting thing about meditation is that it can help you build resilience over time. Besides that, you can feel less-stressed in minutes if you use meditation as a tool to relax your body and mind.

So when faced with life challenges, you can use meditation to respond from a more relaxed, mindful place instead of reacting with worries and fear.

However, you might feel intimidated to begin the practice of meditation, but it’s not difficult and doesn’t require lengthy sessions as many people wrongly believe.

In just five minutes, you can reap the biggest gains from meditation. It can help you get quick relief from stress and pains.

A simple 5-minute technique to reduce stress

You don’t have to spend hours practicing meditation before you can enjoy its benefits. If you have just 5 minutes, you can still make it work for you.

Here’s a simple 5 minute meditation technique you can implement in your life to reduce stress:

Set a Timer

You can set a timer for five minutes, so you can be sure you’re not staying there for too long. You can use the timer on your phone or the Healing Music application.

Relax your body

Close your eyes, relax and take a deep breath from your diaphragm to release the tension in your body. At a slow count of five, do this:

  • Slowly take a deep breath from your belly
  • Then into your ribs
  • And into your chest
  • Then up into the crown of your head
  • Hold your breath for a count of five

Exhale following the same process for another slow count of five, starting from the crown, to the chest, ribs, and to your belly. However, take a pause on the last bit of breath out of your body, and then begin all over.

How does it work?

As you inhale and exhale, try to visualize the stress leaving your body from the crown of your head to your feet. You can imagine that the stress is draining out of your body through your toes or melting out of your body with every breath.

However, ensure you focus on your breath while imagining the stress and tension leaving your body. As you do this, focus on “being” and simply acknowledging where you are in the moment and kick out every thought that comes into your mind. Fix your mind on the present moment and how well you’re doing.

Continue this exercise for five minutes, and then return to your daily activities. You’ll feel more relaxed and refreshed. You can try this 5-minutes meditation regularly to clear out every form of stressful feelings.
